١

اِذَا الشَّمۡسُ كُوِّرَتۡࣕۙ‏

Idhā Ash-Shamsu Kūwirat

When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness]

٢

وَاِذَا النُّجُوۡمُ انۡكَدَرَتۡࣕۙ‏

Wa 'Idhā An-Nujūmu Ankadarat

And when the stars fall, dispersing

٣

وَاِذَا الۡجِبَالُ سُيِّرَتۡࣕۙ‏

Wa 'Idhā Al-Jibālu Suyyirat

And when the mountains are removed

٤

وَاِذَا الۡعِشَارُ عُطِّلَتۡࣕۙ‏

Wa 'Idhā Al-`Ishāru `Uţţilat

And when full-term she-camels are neglected

٥

وَاِذَا الۡوُحُوۡشُ حُشِرَتۡࣕۙ‏

Wa 'Idhā Al-Wuĥūshu Ĥushirat

And when the wild beasts are gathered

٦

وَاِذَا الۡبِحَارُ سُجِّرَتۡࣕۙ‏

Wa 'Idhā Al-Biĥāru Sujjirat

And when the seas are filled with flame

٧

وَاِذَا النُّفُوۡسُ زُوِّجَتۡࣕۙ‏

Wa 'Idhā An-Nufūsu Zūwijat

And when the souls are paired

٨

وَاِذَا الۡمَوۡءٗدَةُ سُئِلَتۡࣕۙ‏

Wa 'Idhā Al-Maw'ūdatu Su'ilat

And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked

٩

بِاَيِّ ذَنۭۡ بٍ قُتِلَتۡۚ‏

Bi'ayyi Dhanbin Qutilat

For what sin she was killed

١٠

وَاِذَا الصُّحُفُ نُشِرَتۡࣕۙ‏

Wa 'Idhā Aş-Şuĥufu Nushirat

And when the pages are made public

١١

وَاِذَا السَّمَآءُ كُشِطَتۡࣕۙ‏

Wa 'Idhā As-Samā'u Kushiţat

And when the sky is stripped away

١٢

وَاِذَا الۡجَحِيۡمُ سُعِّرَتۡࣕۙ‏

Wa 'Idhā Al-Jaĥīmu Su``irat

And when Hellfire is set ablaze

١٣

وَاِذَا الۡجَنَّةُ اُزۡلِفَتۡࣕۙ‏

Wa 'Idhā Al-Jannatu 'Uzlifat

And when Paradise is brought near

١٤

عَلِمَتۡ نَفۡسٌ مَّا٘ اَحۡضَرَتۡؕ‏

Alimat Nafsun Mā 'Aĥđarat

A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]

١٥

فَلَا٘ اُقۡسِمُ بِالۡخُنَّسِۙ‏

Falā 'Uqsimu Bil-Khunnasi

So I swear by the retreating stars

١٦

الۡجَوَارِ الۡكُنَّسِۙ‏

Al-Jawāri Al-Kunnasi

Those that run [their courses] and disappear

١٧

وَالَّيۡلِ اِذَا عَسۡعَسَۙ‏

Wa Al-Layli 'Idhā `As`asa

And by the night as it closes in

١٨

وَالصُّبۡحِ اِذَا تَنَفَّسَۙ‏

Wa Aş-Şubĥi 'Idhā Tanaffasa

And by the dawn when it breathes

١٩

اِنَّهٗ لَقَوۡلُ رَسُوۡلٍ كَرِيۡمٍۙ‏

Innahu Laqawlu Rasūlin Karīmin

[That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger

٢٠

ذِيۡ قُوَّةٍ عِنۡدَ ذِي الۡعَرۡشِ مَكِيۡنٍۙ‏

Dhī Qūwatin `Inda Dhī Al-`Arshi Makīnin

[Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position]

٢١

مُّطَاعٍ ثَمَّ اَمِيۡنٍؕ‏

Muţā`in Thamma 'Amīnin

Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy

٢٢

وَمَا صَاحِبُكُمۡ بِمَجۡنُوۡنٍۚ‏

Wa Mā Şāĥibukum Bimajnūnin

And your companion is not [at all] mad

٢٣

وَلَقَدۡ رَاٰهُ بِالۡاُفُقِ الۡمُبِيۡنِۚ‏

Wa Laqad Ra'āhu Bil-'Ufuqi Al-Mubīni

And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon

٢٤

وَمَا هُوَ عَلَي الۡغَيۡبِ بِضَنِيۡنٍۚ‏

Wa Mā Huwa `Alá Al-Ghaybi Biđanīnin

And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen

٢٥

وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوۡلِ شَيۡطٰنٍ رَّجِيۡمٍۙ‏

Wa Mā Huwa Biqawli Shayţānin Rajīmin

And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]

٢٦

فَاَيۡنَ تَذۡهَبُوۡنَؕ‏

Fa'ayna Tadh/habūna

So where are you going

٢٧

اِنۡ هُوَ اِلَّا ذِكۡرٌ لِّلۡعٰلَمِيۡنَۙ‏

In Huwa 'Illā Dhikrun Lil`ālamīna

It is not except a reminder to the worlds

٢٨

لِمَنۡ شَآءَ مِنۡكُمۡ اَنۡ يَّسۡتَقِيۡمَؕ‏

Liman Shā'a Minkum 'An Yastaqīma

For whoever wills among you to take a right course

٢٩

وَمَا تَشَآءُوۡنَ اِلَّا٘ اَنۡ يَّشَآءَ اللّٰهُ رَبُّ الۡعٰلَمِيۡنَࣖ‏

Wa Mā Tashā'ūna 'Illā 'An Yashā'a Allāhu Rabbu Al-`Ālamīna

And you do not will except that Allah wills - Lord of the worlds

صَدَقَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ

Ṣadaqa Llāhu l-ʿaẓīm

Allah, the Magnificent, has spoken the truth.
