Idhā Ash-Shamsu Kūwirat
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness]
Wa 'Idhā An-Nujūmu Ankadarat
And when the stars fall, dispersing
Wa 'Idhā Al-Jibālu Suyyirat
And when the mountains are removed
Wa 'Idhā Al-`Ishāru `Uţţilat
And when full-term she-camels are neglected
Wa 'Idhā Al-Wuĥūshu Ĥushirat
And when the wild beasts are gathered
Wa 'Idhā Al-Biĥāru Sujjirat
And when the seas are filled with flame
Wa 'Idhā An-Nufūsu Zūwijat
And when the souls are paired
Wa 'Idhā Al-Maw'ūdatu Su'ilat
And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked
Bi'ayyi Dhanbin Qutilat
For what sin she was killed
Wa 'Idhā Aş-Şuĥufu Nushirat
And when the pages are made public
Wa 'Idhā As-Samā'u Kushiţat
And when the sky is stripped away
Wa 'Idhā Al-Jaĥīmu Su``irat
And when Hellfire is set ablaze
Wa 'Idhā Al-Jannatu 'Uzlifat
And when Paradise is brought near
Alimat Nafsun Mā 'Aĥđarat
A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]
Falā 'Uqsimu Bil-Khunnasi
So I swear by the retreating stars
Al-Jawāri Al-Kunnasi
Those that run [their courses] and disappear
Wa Al-Layli 'Idhā `As`asa
And by the night as it closes in
Wa Aş-Şubĥi 'Idhā Tanaffasa
And by the dawn when it breathes
Innahu Laqawlu Rasūlin Karīmin
[That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger
Dhī Qūwatin `Inda Dhī Al-`Arshi Makīnin
[Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position]
Muţā`in Thamma 'Amīnin
Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy
Wa Mā Şāĥibukum Bimajnūnin
And your companion is not [at all] mad
Wa Laqad Ra'āhu Bil-'Ufuqi Al-Mubīni
And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon
Wa Mā Huwa `Alá Al-Ghaybi Biđanīnin
And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen
Wa Mā Huwa Biqawli Shayţānin Rajīmin
And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]
Fa'ayna Tadh/habūna
So where are you going
In Huwa 'Illā Dhikrun Lil`ālamīna
It is not except a reminder to the worlds
Liman Shā'a Minkum 'An Yastaqīma
For whoever wills among you to take a right course
Wa Mā Tashā'ūna 'Illā 'An Yashā'a Allāhu Rabbu Al-`Ālamīna
And you do not will except that Allah wills - Lord of the worlds
Ṣadaqa Llāhu l-ʿaẓīm
Allah, the Magnificent, has spoken the truth.
