اِذَا وَقَعَتِ الۡوَاقِعَةُۙ‏

Idhā Waqa`ati Al-Wāqi`ahu

When the Occurrence occurs

لَيۡسَ لِوَقۡعَتِهَا كَاذِبَةٌۘ‏

Laysa Liwaq`atihā Kādhibahun

There is, at its occurrence, no denial

خَافِضَةٌ رَّافِعَةٌۙ‏

Khāfiđatun Rāfi`ahun

It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]

اِذَا رُجَّتِ الۡاَرۡضُ رَجًّاۙ‏

Idhā Rujjati Al-'Arđu Rajjāan

When the earth is shaken with convulsion

وَّبُسَّتِ الۡجِبَالُ بَسًّاۙ‏

Wa Bussati Al-Jibālu Bassāan

And the mountains are broken down, crumbling

فَكَانَتۡ هَبَآءً مُّنۭۡ بَثًّاۙ‏

Fakānat Habā'an Munbaththāan

And become dust dispersing

وَّكُنۡتُمۡ اَزۡوَاجًا ثَلٰثَةًؕ‏

Wa Kuntum 'Azwājāan Thalāthahan

And you become [of] three kinds

فَاَصۡحٰبُ الۡمَيۡمَنَةِ ࣢ۙ مَا٘ اَصۡحٰبُ الۡمَيۡمَنَةِؕ‏

Fa'aşĥābu Al-Maymanati Mā 'Aşĥābu Al-Maymanahi

Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right

وَاَصۡحٰبُ الۡمَشۡـَٔمَةِ ࣢ۙ مَا٘ اَصۡحٰبُ الۡمَشۡـَٔمَةِؕ‏

Wa 'Aşĥābu Al-Mash'amati Mā 'Aşĥābu Al-Mash'amahi

And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left

وَالسّٰبِقُوۡنَ السّٰبِقُوۡنَۙ‏

Wa As-Sābiqūna As-Sābiqūna

And the forerunners, the forerunners

اُولٰٓئِكَ الۡمُقَرَّبُوۡنَۚ‏

Ūlā'ika Al-Muqarrabūna

Those are the ones brought near [to Allah]

فِيۡ جَنّٰتِ النَّعِيۡمِ

Fī Jannāti An-Na`īmi

In the Gardens of Pleasure

ثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ الۡاَوَّلِيۡنَۙ‏

Thullatun Mina Al-'Awwalīna

A [large] company of the former peoples

وَقَلِيۡلٌ مِّنَ الۡاٰخِرِيۡنَؕ‏

Wa Qalīlun Mina Al-'Ākhirīna

And a few of the later peoples

عَلٰي سُرُرٍ مَّوۡضُوۡنَةٍۙ‏

Alá Sururin Mawđūnahin

On thrones woven [with ornament]

مُّتَّكِـِٕيۡنَ عَلَيۡهَا مُتَقٰبِلِيۡنَ

Muttaki'īna `Alayhā Mutaqābilīna

Reclining on them, facing each other

يَطُوۡفُ عَلَيۡهِمۡ وِلۡدَانٌ مُّخَلَّدُوۡنَۙ‏

Yaţūfu `Alayhim Wildānun Mukhalladūna

There will circulate among them young boys made eternal

بِاَكۡوَابٍ وَّاَبَارِيۡقَ ࣢ۙ وَكَاۡسٍ مِّنۡ مَّعِيۡنٍۙ‏

Bi'akwābin Wa 'Abārīqa Wa Ka'sin Min Ma`īnin

With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring

لَّا يُصَدَّعُوۡنَ عَنۡهَا وَلَا يُنۡزِفُوۡنَۙ‏

Lā Yuşadda`ūna `Anhā Wa Lā Yunzifūna

No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated

وَفَاكِهَةٍ مِّمَّا يَتَخَيَّرُوۡنَۙ‏

Wa Fākihatin Mimmā Yatakhayyarūna

And fruit of what they select

وَلَحۡمِ طَيۡرٍ مِّمَّا يَشۡتَهُوۡنَؕ‏

Wa Laĥmi Ţayrin Mimmā Yashtahūna

And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire

وَحُوۡرٌ عِيۡنٌۙ‏

Wa Ĥūrun `Īnun

And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes

كَاَمۡثَالِ اللُّؤۡلُؤِ الۡمَكۡنُوۡنِۚ‏

Ka'amthāli Al-Lu'ulu'ui Al-Maknūni

The likenesses of pearls well-protected

جَزَآءًۭ بِمَا كَانُوۡا يَعۡمَلُوۡنَ

Jazā'an Bimā Kānū Ya`malūna

As reward for what they used to do

لَا يَسۡمَعُوۡنَ فِيۡهَا لَغۡوًا وَّلَا تَاۡثِيۡمًاۙ‏

Lā Yasma`ūna Fīhā Laghwan Wa Lā Ta'thīmāan

They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin

اِلَّا قِيۡلًا سَلٰمًا سَلٰمًا

Illā Qīlāan Salāmāan Salāmāan

Only a saying: "Peace, peace

وَاَصۡحٰبُ الۡيَمِيۡنِ ࣢ۙ مَا٘ اَصۡحٰبُ الۡيَمِيۡنِؕ‏

Wa 'Aşĥābu Al-Yamīni Mā 'Aşĥābu Al-Yamīni

The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right

فِيۡ سِدۡرٍ مَّخۡضُوۡدٍۙ‏

Fī Sidrin Makhđūdin

[They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed

وَّطَلۡحٍ مَّنۡضُوۡدٍۙ‏

Wa Ţalĥin Manđūdin

And [banana] trees layered [with fruit]

وَّظِلٍّ مَّمۡدُوۡدٍۙ‏

Wa Žillin Mamdūdin

And shade extended

وَّمَآءٍ مَّسۡكُوۡبٍۙ‏

Wa Mā'in Maskūbin

And water poured out

وَّفَاكِهَةٍ كَثِيۡرَةٍۙ‏

Wa Fākihatin Kathīrahin

And fruit, abundant [and varied]

لَّا مَقۡطُوۡعَةٍ وَّلَا مَمۡنُوۡعَةٍۙ‏

Lā Maqţū`atin Wa Lā Mamnū`ahin

Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden

وَّفُرُشٍ مَّرۡفُوۡعَةٍؕ‏

Wa Furushin Marfū`ahin

And [upon] beds raised high

اِنَّا٘ اَنۡشَاۡنٰهُنَّ اِنۡشَآءًۙ‏

Innā 'Ansha'nāhunna 'Inshā'an

Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation

فَجَعَلۡنٰهُنَّ اَبۡكَارًاۙ‏

Faja`alnāhunna 'Abkārāan

And made them virgins

عُرُبًا اَتۡرَابًاۙ‏

Urubāan 'Atrābāan

Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age

لِّاَصۡحٰبِ الۡيَمِيۡنِࣖؕ‏

Li'aşĥābi Al-Yamīni

For the companions of the right [who are]

ثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ الۡاَوَّلِيۡنَۙ‏

Thullatun Mina Al-'Awwalīna

A company of the former peoples

وَثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ الۡاٰخِرِيۡنَؕ‏

Wa Thullatun Mina Al-'Ākhirīna

And a company of the later peoples

وَاَصۡحٰبُ الشِّمَالِ ࣢ۙ مَا٘ اَصۡحٰبُ الشِّمَالِؕ‏

Wa 'Aşĥābu Ash-Shimāli Mā 'Aşĥābu Ash-Shimāli

And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left

فِيۡ سَمُوۡمٍ وَّحَمِيۡمٍۙ‏

Fī Samūmin Wa Ĥamīmin

[They will be] in scorching fire and scalding water

وَّظِلٍّ مِّنۡ يَّحۡمُوۡمٍۙ‏

Wa Žillin Min Yaĥmūmin

And a shade of black smoke

لَّا بَارِدٍ وَّلَا كَرِيۡمٍ

Lā Bāridin Wa Lā Karīmin

Neither cool nor beneficial

اِنَّهُمۡ كَانُوۡا قَبۡلَ ذٰلِكَ مُتۡرَفِيۡنَۚۖ‏

Innahum Kānū Qabla Dhālika Mutrafīna

Indeed they were, before that, indulging in affluence

وَكَانُوۡا يُصِرُّوۡنَ عَلَي الۡحِنۡثِ الۡعَظِيۡمِۚ‏

Wa Kānū Yuşirrūna `Alá Al-Ĥinthi Al-`Ažīmi

And they used to persist in the great violation

وَكَانُوۡا يَقُوۡلُوۡنَ ࣢ۙ اَئِذَا مِتۡنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَّعِظَامًا ءَاِنَّا لَمَبۡعُوۡثُوۡنَۙ‏

Wa Kānū Yaqūlūna 'A'idhā Mitnā Wa Kunnā Turābāan Wa `Ižāmāan 'A'innā Lamab`ūthūna

And they used to say, "When we die and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected

اَوَ اٰبَآؤُنَا الۡاَوَّلُوۡنَ

Awa 'Ābā'uunā Al-'Awwalūna

And our forefathers [as well]

قُلۡ اِنَّ الۡاَوَّلِيۡنَ وَالۡاٰخِرِيۡنَۙ‏

Qul 'Inna Al-'Awwalīna Wa Al-'Ākhirīna

Say, [O Muhammad], "Indeed, the former and the later peoples

لَمَجۡمُوۡعُوۡنَ ࣢ۙ اِلٰي مِيۡقَاتِ يَوۡمٍ مَّعۡلُوۡمٍ

Lamajmū`ūna 'Ilá Mīqāti Yawmin Ma`lūmin

Are to be gathered together for the appointment of a known Day

ثُمَّ اِنَّكُمۡ اَيُّهَا الضَّآلُّوۡنَ الۡمُكَذِّبُوۡنَۙ‏

Thumma 'Innakum 'Ayyuhā Ađ-Đāllūna Al-Mukadhibūna

Then indeed you, O those astray [who are] deniers

لَاٰكِلُوۡنَ مِنۡ شَجَرٍ مِّنۡ زَقُّوۡمٍۙ‏

La'ākilūna Min Shajarin Min Zaqqūmin

Will be eating from trees of zaqqum

فَمَالِـُٔوۡنَ مِنۡهَا الۡبُطُوۡنَۚ‏

Famāli'ūna Minhā Al-Buţūna

And filling with it your bellies

فَشٰرِبُوۡنَ عَلَيۡهِ مِنَ الۡحَمِيۡمِۚ‏

Fashāribūna `Alayhi Mina Al-Ĥamīmi

And drinking on top of it from scalding water

فَشٰرِبُوۡنَ شُرۡبَ الۡهِيۡمِؕ‏

Fashāribūna Shurba Al-Hīmi

And will drink as the drinking of thirsty camels

هٰذَا نُزُلُهُمۡ يَوۡمَ الدِّيۡنِؕ‏

Hādhā Nuzuluhum Yawma Ad-Dīni

That is their accommodation on the Day of Recompense

نَحۡنُ خَلَقۡنٰكُمۡ فَلَوۡلَا تُصَدِّقُوۡنَ

Naĥnu Khalaqnākum Falawlā Tuşaddiqūna

We have created you, so why do you not believe

اَفَرَءَيۡتُمۡ مَّا تُمۡنُوۡنَؕ‏

Afara'aytum Mā Tumnūna

Have you seen that which you emit

ءَاَنۡتُمۡ تَخۡلُقُوۡنَهٗ٘ اَمۡ نَحۡنُ الۡخٰلِقُوۡنَ

A'antum Takhluqūnahu 'Am Naĥnu Al-Khāliqūna

Is it you who creates it, or are We the Creator

نَحۡنُ قَدَّرۡنَا بَيۡنَكُمُ الۡمَوۡتَ وَمَا نَحۡنُ بِمَسۡبُوۡقِيۡنَۙ‏

Naĥnu Qaddarnā Baynakumu Al-Mawta Wa Mā Naĥnu Bimasbūqīna

We have decreed death among you, and We are not to be outdone

عَلٰ٘ي اَنۡ نُّبَدِّلَ اَمۡثَالَكُمۡ وَنُنۡشِئَكُمۡ فِيۡ مَا لَا تَعۡلَمُوۡنَ

Alá 'An Nubaddila 'Amthālakum Wa Nunshi'akum Fī Mā Lā Ta`lamūna

In that We will change your likenesses and produce you in that [form] which you do not know

وَلَقَدۡ عَلِمۡتُمُ النَّشۡاَةَ الۡاُوۡلٰي فَلَوۡلَا تَذَكَّرُوۡنَ

Wa Laqad `Alimtumu An-Nash'ata Al-'Ūlá Falawlā Tadhkkarūna

And you have already known the first creation, so will you not remember

اَفَرَءَيۡتُمۡ مَّا تَحۡرُثُوۡنَؕ‏

Afara'aytum Mā Taĥruthūna

And have you seen that [seed] which you sow

ءَاَنۡتُمۡ تَزۡرَعُوۡنَهٗ٘ اَمۡ نَحۡنُ الزّٰرِعُوۡنَ

A'antum Tazra`ūnahu 'Am Naĥnu Az-Zāri`ūna

Is it you who makes it grow, or are We the grower

لَوۡ نَشَآءُ لَجَعَلۡنٰهُ حُطَامًا فَظَلۡتُمۡ تَفَكَّهُوۡنَ

Law Nashā'u Laja`alnāhu Ĥuţāmāan Fažalaltum Tafakkahūna

If We willed, We could make it [dry] debris, and you would remain in wonder

اِنَّا لَمُغۡرَمُوۡنَۙ‏

Innā Lamughramūna

[Saying], "Indeed, we are [now] in debt

بَلۡ نَحۡنُ مَحۡرُوۡمُوۡنَ

Bal Naĥnu Maĥrūmūna

Rather, we have been deprived

اَفَرَءَيۡتُمُ الۡمَآءَ الَّذِيۡ تَشۡرَبُوۡنَؕ‏

Afara'aytumu Al-Mā'a Al-Ladhī Tashrabūna

And have you seen the water that you drink

ءَاَنۡتُمۡ اَنۡزَلۡتُمُوۡهُ مِنَ الۡمُزۡنِ اَمۡ نَحۡنُ الۡمُنۡزِلُوۡنَ

A'antum 'Anzaltumūhu Mina Al-Muzni 'Am Naĥnu Al-Munzilūna

Is it you who brought it down from the clouds, or is it We who bring it down

لَوۡ نَشَآءُ جَعَلۡنٰهُ اُجَاجًا فَلَوۡلَا تَشۡكُرُوۡنَ

Law Nashā'u Ja`alnāhu 'Ujājāan Falawlā Tashkurūna

If We willed, We could make it bitter, so why are you not grateful

اَفَرَءَيۡتُمُ النَّارَ الَّتِيۡ تُوۡرُوۡنَؕ‏

Afara'aytumu An-Nāra Allatī Tūrūna

And have you seen the fire that you ignite

ءَاَنۡتُمۡ اَنۡشَاۡتُمۡ شَجَرَتَهَا٘ اَمۡ نَحۡنُ الۡمُنۡشِـُٔوۡنَ

A'antum 'Ansha'tum Shajaratahā 'Am Naĥnu Al-Munshi'ūna

Is it you who produced its tree, or are We the producer

نَحۡنُ جَعَلۡنٰهَا تَذۡكِرَةً وَّمَتَاعًا لِّلۡمُقۡوِيۡنَۚ‏

Naĥnu Ja`alnāhā Tadhkiratan Wa Matā`āan Lilmuqwīna

We have made it a reminder and provision for the travelers

فَسَبِّحۡ بِاسۡمِ رَبِّكَ الۡعَظِيۡمِࣚۚࣖ‏

Fasabbiĥ Biāsmi Rabbika Al-`Ažīmi

So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great

فَلَا٘ اُقۡسِمُ بِمَوٰقِعِ النُّجُوۡمِۙ‏

Falā 'Uqsimu Bimawāqi`i An-Nujūmi

Then I swear by the setting of the stars

وَاِنَّهٗ لَقَسَمٌ لَّوۡ تَعۡلَمُوۡنَ عَظِيۡمٌۙ‏

Wa 'Innahu Laqasamun Law Ta`lamūna `Ažīmun

And indeed, it is an oath - if you could know - [most] great

اِنَّهٗ لَقُرۡاٰنٌ كَرِيۡمٌۙ‏

Innahu Laqur'ānun Karīmun

Indeed, it is a noble Qur'an

فِيۡ كِتٰبٍ مَّكۡنُوۡنٍۙ‏

Fī Kitābin Maknūnin

In a Register well-protected

لَّا يَمَسُّهٗ٘ اِلَّا الۡمُطَهَّرُوۡنَؕ‏

Lā Yamassuhu 'Illā Al-Muţahharūna

None touch it except the purified

تَنۡزِيۡلٌ مِّنۡ رَّبِّ الۡعٰلَمِيۡنَ

Tanzīlun Min Rabbi Al-`Ālamīna

[It is] a revelation from the Lord of the worlds

اَفَبِهٰذَا الۡحَدِيۡثِ اَنۡتُمۡ مُّدۡهِنُوۡنَۙ‏

Afabihadhā Al-Ĥadīthi 'Antum Mud/hinūna

Then is it to this statement that you are indifferent

وَتَجۡعَلُوۡنَ رِزۡقَكُمۡ اَنَّكُمۡ تُكَذِّبُوۡنَ

Wa Taj`alūna Rizqakum 'Annakum Tukadhibūna

And make [the thanks for] your provision that you deny [the Provider]

فَلَوۡلَا٘ اِذَا بَلَغَتِ الۡحُلۡقُوۡمَۙ‏

Falawlā 'Idhā Balaghati Al-Ĥulqūma

Then why, when the soul at death reaches the throat

وَاَنۡتُمۡ حِيۡنَئِذٍ تَنۡظُرُوۡنَۙ‏

Wa 'Antum Ĥīna'idhin Tanžurūna

And you are at that time looking on

وَنَحۡنُ اَقۡرَبُ اِلَيۡهِ مِنۡكُمۡ وَلٰكِنۡ لَّا تُبۡصِرُوۡنَ

Wa Naĥnu 'Aqrabu 'Ilayhi Minkum Wa Lakin Lā Tubşirūna

And Our angels are nearer to him than you, but you do not see

فَلَوۡلَا٘ اِنۡ كُنۡتُمۡ غَيۡرَ مَدِيۡنِيۡنَۙ‏

Falawlā 'In Kuntum Ghayra Madīnīna

Then why do you not, if you are not to be recompensed

تَرۡجِعُوۡنَهَا٘ اِنۡ كُنۡتُمۡ صٰدِقِيۡنَ

Tarji`ūnahā 'In Kuntum Şādiqīna

Bring it back, if you should be truthful

فَاَمَّا٘ اِنۡ كَانَ مِنَ الۡمُقَرَّبِيۡنَۙ‏

Fa'ammā 'In Kāna Mina Al-Muqarrabīna

And if the deceased was of those brought near to Allah

فَرَوۡحٌ وَّرَيۡحَانٌ ࣢ۙ وَّجَنَّتُ نَعِيۡمٍ

Farawĥun Wa Rayĥānun Wa Jannatu Na`īmin

Then [for him is] rest and bounty and a garden of pleasure

وَاَمَّا٘ اِنۡ كَانَ مِنۡ اَصۡحٰبِ الۡيَمِيۡنِۙ‏

Wa 'Ammā 'In Kāna Min 'Aşĥābi Al-Yamīni

And if he was of the companions of the right

فَسَلٰمٌ لَّكَ مِنۡ اَصۡحٰبِ الۡيَمِيۡنِ

Fasalāmun Laka Min 'Aşĥābi Al-Yamīni

Then [the angels will say], "Peace for you; [you are] from the companions of the right

وَاَمَّا٘ اِنۡ كَانَ مِنَ الۡمُكَذِّبِيۡنَ الضَّآلِّيۡنَۙ‏

Wa 'Ammā 'In Kāna Mina Al-Mukadhibīna Ađ-Đāllīna

But if he was of the deniers [who were] astray

فَنُزُلٌ مِّنۡ حَمِيۡمٍۙ‏

Fanuzulun Min Ĥamīmin

Then [for him is] accommodation of scalding water

وَّتَصۡلِيَةُ جَحِيۡمٍ

Wa Taşliyatu Jaĥīmin

And burning in Hellfire

اِنَّ هٰذَا لَهُوَ حَقُّ الۡيَقِيۡنِۚ‏

Inna Hādhā Lahuwa Ĥaqqu Al-Yaqīni

Indeed, this is the true certainty

فَسَبِّحۡ بِاسۡمِ رَبِّكَ الۡعَظِيۡمِࣖ‏

Fasabbiĥ Biāsmi Rabbika Al-`Ažīmi

So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great
