اِقۡتَرَبَتِ السَّاعَةُ وَانۡشَقَّ الۡقَمَرُ

Aqtarabati As-Sā`atu Wa Anshaqqa Al-Qamaru

The Hour has come near, and the moon has split [in two]

وَاِنۡ يَّرَوۡا اٰيَةً يُّعۡرِضُوۡا وَيَقُوۡلُوۡا سِحۡرٌ مُّسۡتَمِرٌّ

Wa 'In Yaraw 'Āyatan Yu`riđū Wa Yaqūlū Siĥrun Mustamirrun

And if they see a miracle, they turn away and say, "Passing magic

وَكَذَّبُوۡا وَاتَّبَعُوۡ٘ا اَهۡوَآءَهُمۡ وَكُلُّ اَمۡرٍ مُّسۡتَقِرٌّ

Wa Kadhabū Wa Attaba`ū 'Ahwā'ahum Wa Kullu 'Amrin Mustaqirrun

And they denied and followed their inclinations. But for every matter is a [time of] settlement

وَلَقَدۡ جَآءَهُمۡ مِّنَ الۡاَنۭۡ بَآءِ مَا فِيۡهِ مُزۡدَجَرٌۙ‏

Wa Laqad Jā'ahum Mina Al-'Anbā'i Mā Fīhi Muzdajarun

And there has already come to them of information that in which there is deterrence

حِكۡمَةٌۭ بَالِغَةٌ فَمَا تُغۡنِ النُّذُرُۙ‏

Ĥikmatun Bālighatun Famā Tughni An-Nudhuru

Extensive wisdom - but warning does not avail [them]

فَتَوَلَّ عَنۡهُمۡۘ يَوۡمَ يَدۡعُ الدَّاعِ اِلٰي شَيۡءٍ نُّكُرٍۙ‏

Fatawalla `Anhum Yawma Yad`u Ad-Dā`i 'Ilá Shay'in Nukurin

So leave them, [O Muhammad]. The Day the Caller calls to something forbidding

خُشَّعًا اَبۡصَارُهُمۡ يَخۡرُجُوۡنَ مِنَ الۡاَجۡدَاثِ كَاَنَّهُمۡ جَرَادٌ مُّنۡتَشِرٌۙ‏

Khusha`āan 'Abşāruhum Yakhrujūna Mina Al-'Ajdāthi Ka'annahum Jarādun Muntashirun

Their eyes humbled, they will emerge from the graves as if they were locusts spreading

مُّهۡطِعِيۡنَ اِلَي الدَّاعِؕ يَقُوۡلُ الۡكٰفِرُوۡنَ هٰذَا يَوۡمٌ عَسِرٌ

Muhţi`īna 'Ilá Ad-Dā`i Yaqūlu Al-Kāfirūna Hādhā Yawmun `Asirun

Racing ahead toward the Caller. The disbelievers will say, "This is a difficult Day

كَذَّبَتۡ قَبۡلَهُمۡ قَوۡمُ نُوۡحٍ فَكَذَّبُوۡا عَبۡدَنَا وَقَالُوۡا مَجۡنُوۡنٌ وَّازۡدُجِرَ

Kadhabat Qablahum Qawmu Nūĥin Fakadhabū `Abdanā Wa Qālū Majnūnun Wa Azdujira

The people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A madman," and he was repelled

فَدَعَا رَبَّهٗ٘ اَنِّيۡ مَغۡلُوۡبٌ فَانۡتَصِرۡ‏

Fada`ā Rabbahu 'Annī Maghlūbun Fāntaşir

So he invoked his Lord, "Indeed, I am overpowered, so help

فَفَتَحۡنَا٘ اَبۡوَابَ السَّمَآءِ بِمَآءٍ مُّنۡهَمِرٍؗۖ‏

Fafataĥnā 'Abwāba As-Samā'i Bimā'in Munhamirin

Then We opened the gates of the heaven with rain pouring down

وَّفَجَّرۡنَا الۡاَرۡضَ عُيُوۡنًا فَالۡتَقَي الۡمَآءُ عَلٰ٘ي اَمۡرٍ قَدۡ قُدِرَۚ‏

Wa Fajjarnā Al-'Arđa `Uyūnāan Fāltaqá Al-Mā'u `Alá 'Amrin Qad Qudira

And caused the earth to burst with springs, and the waters met for a matter already predestined

وَحَمَلۡنٰهُ عَلٰي ذَاتِ اَلۡوَاحٍ وَّدُسُرٍۙ‏

Wa Ĥamalnāhu `Alá Dhāti 'Alwāĥin Wa Dusurin

And We carried him on a [construction of] planks and nails

تَجۡرِيۡ بِاَعۡيُنِنَا جَزَآءً لِّمَنۡ كَانَ كُفِرَ

Tajrī Bi'a`yuninā Jazā'an Liman Kāna Kufira

Sailing under Our observation as reward for he who had been denied

وَلَقَدۡ تَّرَكۡنٰهَا٘ اٰيَةً فَهَلۡ مِنۡ مُّدَّكِرٍ

Wa Laqad Taraknāhā 'Āyatan Fahal Min Muddakirin

And We left it as a sign, so is there any who will remember

فَكَيۡفَ كَانَ عَذَابِيۡ وَنُذُرِ

Fakayfa Kāna `Adhābī Wa Nudhuri

And how [severe] were My punishment and warning

وَلَقَدۡ يَسَّرۡنَا الۡقُرۡاٰنَ لِلذِّكۡرِ فَهَلۡ مِنۡ مُّدَّكِرٍ

Wa Laqad Yassarnā Al-Qur'āna Lildhikri Fahal Min Muddakirin

And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember

كَذَّبَتۡ عَادٌ فَكَيۡفَ كَانَ عَذَابِيۡ وَنُذُرِ

Kadhabat `Ādun Fakayfa Kāna `Adhābī Wa Nudhuri

Aad denied; and how [severe] were My punishment and warning

اِنَّا٘ اَرۡسَلۡنَا عَلَيۡهِمۡ رِيۡحًا صَرۡصَرًا فِيۡ يَوۡمِ نَحۡسٍ مُّسۡتَمِرٍّۙ‏

Innā 'Arsalnā `Alayhim Rīĥāan Şarşarāan Fī Yawmi Naĥsin Mustamirrin

Indeed, We sent upon them a screaming wind on a day of continuous misfortune

تَنۡزِعُ النَّاسَۙ كَاَنَّهُمۡ اَعۡجَازُ نَخۡلٍ مُّنۡقَعِرٍ

Tanzi`u An-Nāsa Ka'annahum 'A`jāzu Nakhlin Munqa`irin

Extracting the people as if they were trunks of palm trees uprooted

فَكَيۡفَ كَانَ عَذَابِيۡ وَنُذُرِ

Fakayfa Kāna `Adhābī Wa Nudhuri

And how [severe] were My punishment and warning

وَلَقَدۡ يَسَّرۡنَا الۡقُرۡاٰنَ لِلذِّكۡرِ فَهَلۡ مِنۡ مُّدَّكِرٍࣖ‏

Wa Laqad Yassarnā Al-Qur'āna Lildhikri Fahal Min Muddakirin

And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember

كَذَّبَتۡ ثَمُوۡدُ بِالنُّذُرِ

Kadhabat Thamūdu Bin-Nudhuri

Thamud denied the warning

فَقَالُوۡ٘ا اَبَشَرًا مِّنَّا وَاحِدًا نَّتَّبِعُهٗ٘ۙ اِنَّا٘ اِذًا لَّفِيۡ ضَلٰلٍ وَّسُعُرٍ

Faqālū 'Abasharāan Minnā Wāĥidāan Nattabi`uhu 'Innā 'Idhāan Lafī Đalālin Wa Su`urin

And said, "Is it one human being among us that we should follow? Indeed, we would then be in error and madness

ءَاُلۡقِيَ الذِّكۡرُ عَلَيۡهِ مِنۭۡ بَيۡنِنَا بَلۡ هُوَ كَذَّابٌ اَشِرٌ

A'uulqiya Adh-Dhikru `Alayhi Min Bayninā Bal Huwa Kadhābun 'Ashirun

Has the message been sent down upon him from among us? Rather, he is an insolent liar

سَيَعۡلَمُوۡنَ غَدًا مَّنِ الۡكَذَّابُ الۡاَشِرُ

Saya`lamūna Ghadāan Mani Al-Kadhābu Al-'Ashiru

They will know tomorrow who is the insolent liar

اِنَّا مُرۡسِلُوا النَّاقَةِ فِتۡنَةً لَّهُمۡ فَارۡتَقِبۡهُمۡ وَاصۡطَبِرۡؗ‏

Innā Mursilū An-Nāqati Fitnatan Lahum Fārtaqibhum Wa Aşţabir

Indeed, We are sending the she-camel as trial for them, so watch them and be patient

وَنَبِّئۡهُمۡ اَنَّ الۡمَآءَ قِسۡمَةٌۭ بَيۡنَهُمۡۚ كُلُّ شِرۡبٍ مُّحۡتَضَرٌ

Wa Nabbi'hum 'Anna Al-Mā'a Qismatun Baynahum Kullu Shirbin Muĥtađarun

And inform them that the water is shared between them, each [day of] drink attended [by turn]

فَنَادَوۡا صَاحِبَهُمۡ فَتَعَاطٰي فَعَقَرَ

Fanādaw Şāĥibahum Fata`āţá Fa`aqara

But they called their companion, and he dared and hamstrung [her]

فَكَيۡفَ كَانَ عَذَابِيۡ وَنُذُرِ

Fakayfa Kāna `Adhābī Wa Nudhuri

And how [severe] were My punishment and warning

اِنَّا٘ اَرۡسَلۡنَا عَلَيۡهِمۡ صَيۡحَةً وَّاحِدَةً فَكَانُوۡا كَهَشِيۡمِ الۡمُحۡتَظِرِ

Innā 'Arsalnā `Alayhim Şayĥatan Wāĥidatan Fakānū Kahashīmi Al-Muĥtažiri

Indeed, We sent upon them one blast from the sky, and they became like the dry twig fragments of an [animal] pen

وَلَقَدۡ يَسَّرۡنَا الۡقُرۡاٰنَ لِلذِّكۡرِ فَهَلۡ مِنۡ مُّدَّكِرٍ

Wa Laqad Yassarnā Al-Qur'āna Lildhikri Fahal Min Muddakirin

And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember

كَذَّبَتۡ قَوۡمُ لُوۡطٍۭ بِالنُّذُرِ

Kadhabat Qawmu Lūţin Bin-Nudhuri

The people of Lot denied the warning

اِنَّا٘ اَرۡسَلۡنَا عَلَيۡهِمۡ حَاصِبًا اِلَّا٘ اٰلَ لُوۡطٍؕ نَجَّيۡنٰهُمۡ بِسَحَرٍۙ‏

Innā 'Arsalnā `Alayhim Ĥāşibāan 'Illā 'Āla Lūţin Najjaynāhum Bisaĥarin

Indeed, We sent upon them a storm of stones, except the family of Lot - We saved them before dawn

نِّعۡمَةً مِّنۡ عِنۡدِنَاؕ كَذٰلِكَ نَجۡزِيۡ مَنۡ شَكَرَ

Ni`matan Min `Indinā Kadhālika Najzī Man Shakara

As favor from us. Thus do We reward he who is grateful

وَلَقَدۡ اَنۡذَرَهُمۡ بَطۡشَتَنَا فَتَمَارَوۡا بِالنُّذُرِ

Wa Laqad 'Andharahum Baţshatanā Fatamāraw Bin-Nudhuri

And he had already warned them of Our assault, but they disputed the warning

وَلَقَدۡ رَاوَدُوۡهُ عَنۡ ضَيۡفِهٖ فَطَمَسۡنَا٘ اَعۡيُنَهُمۡ فَذُوۡقُوۡا عَذَابِيۡ وَنُذُرِ

Wa Laqad Rāwadūhu `An Đayfihi Faţamasnā 'A`yunahum Fadhūqū `Adhābī Wa Nudhuri

And they had demanded from him his guests, but We obliterated their eyes, [saying], "Taste My punishment and warning

وَلَقَدۡ صَبَّحَهُمۡ بُكۡرَةً عَذَابٌ مُّسۡتَقِرٌّۚ‏

Wa Laqad Şabbaĥahum Bukratan `Adhābun Mustaqirrun

And there came upon them by morning an abiding punishment

فَذُوۡقُوۡا عَذَابِيۡ وَنُذُرِ

Fadhūqū `Adhābī Wa Nudhuri

So taste My punishment and warning

وَلَقَدۡ يَسَّرۡنَا الۡقُرۡاٰنَ لِلذِّكۡرِ فَهَلۡ مِنۡ مُّدَّكِرٍࣖ‏

Wa Laqad Yassarnā Al-Qur'āna Lildhikri Fahal Min Muddakirin

And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember

وَلَقَدۡ جَآءَ اٰلَ فِرۡعَوۡنَ النُّذُرُۚ‏

Wa Laqad Jā'a 'Āla Fir`awna An-Nudhuru

And there certainly came to the people of Pharaoh warning

كَذَّبُوۡا بِاٰيٰتِنَا كُلِّهَا فَاَخَذۡنٰهُمۡ اَخۡذَ عَزِيۡزٍ مُّقۡتَدِرٍ

Kadhabū Bi'āyātinā Kullihā Fa'akhadhnāhum 'Akhdha `Azīzin Muqtadirin

They denied Our signs, all of them, so We seized them with a seizure of one Exalted in Might and Perfect in Ability

اَكُفَّارُكُمۡ خَيۡرٌ مِّنۡ اُولٰٓئِكُمۡ اَمۡ لَكُمۡ بَرَآءَةٌ فِي الزُّبُرِۚ‏

Akuffārukum Khayrun Min 'Ūla'ikum 'Am Lakum Barā'atun Fī Az-Zuburi

Are your disbelievers better than those [former ones], or have you immunity in the scripture

اَمۡ يَقُوۡلُوۡنَ نَحۡنُ جَمِيۡعٌ مُّنۡتَصِرٌ

Am Yaqūlūna Naĥnu Jamī`un Muntaşirun

Or do they say, "We are an assembly supporting [each other]

سَيُهۡزَمُ الۡجَمۡعُ وَيُوَلُّوۡنَ الدُّبُرَ

Sayuhzamu Al-Jam`u Wa Yuwallūna Ad-Dubura

[Their] assembly will be defeated, and they will turn their backs [in retreat]

بَلِ السَّاعَةُ مَوۡعِدُهُمۡ وَالسَّاعَةُ اَدۡهٰي وَاَمَرُّ

Bali As-Sā`atu Maw`iduhum Wa As-Sā`atu 'Ad/há Wa 'Amarru

But the Hour is their appointment [for due punishment], and the Hour is more disastrous and more bitter

اِنَّ الۡمُجۡرِمِيۡنَ فِيۡ ضَلٰلٍ وَّسُعُرٍۘ‏

Inna Al-Mujrimīna Fī Đalālin Wa Su`urin

Indeed, the criminals are in error and madness

يَوۡمَ يُسۡحَبُوۡنَ فِي النَّارِ عَلٰي وُجُوۡهِهِمۡؕ ذُوۡقُوۡا مَسَّ سَقَرَ

Yawma Yusĥabūna Fī An-Nāri `Alá Wujūhihim Dhūqū Massa Saqara

The Day they are dragged into the Fire on their faces [it will be said], "Taste the touch of Saqar

اِنَّا كُلَّ شَيۡءٍ خَلَقۡنٰهُ بِقَدَرٍ

Innā Kulla Shay'in Khalaqnāhu Biqadarin

Indeed, all things We created with predestination

وَمَا٘ اَمۡرُنَا٘ اِلَّا وَاحِدَةٌ كَلَمۡحٍۭ بِالۡبَصَرِ

Wa Mā 'Amrunā 'Illā Wāĥidatun Kalamĥin Bil-Başari

And Our command is but one, like a glance of the eye

وَلَقَدۡ اَهۡلَكۡنَا٘ اَشۡيَاعَكُمۡ فَهَلۡ مِنۡ مُّدَّكِرٍ

Wa Laqad 'Ahlaknā 'Ashyā`akum Fahal Min Muddakirin

And We have already destroyed your kinds, so is there any who will remember

وَكُلُّ شَيۡءٍ فَعَلُوۡهُ فِي الزُّبُرِ

Wa Kullu Shay'in Fa`alūhu Fī Az-Zuburi

And everything they did is in written records

وَكُلُّ صَغِيۡرٍ وَّكَبِيۡرٍ مُّسۡتَطَرٌ

Wa Kullu Şaghīrin Wa Kabīrin Mustaţarun

And every small and great [thing] is inscribed

اِنَّ الۡمُتَّقِيۡنَ فِيۡ جَنّٰتٍ وَّنَهَرٍۙ‏

Inna Al-Muttaqīna Fī Jannātin Wa Naharin

Indeed, the righteous will be among gardens and rivers

فِيۡ مَقۡعَدِ صِدۡقٍ عِنۡدَ مَلِيۡكٍ مُّقۡتَدِرٍࣖ‏

Fī Maq`adi Şidqin `Inda Malīkin Muqtadirin

In a seat of honor near a Sovereign, Perfect in Ability
