١

وَالۡفَجۡرِۙ‏

Wa Al-Fajri

By the dawn

٢

وَلَيَالٍ عَشۡرٍۙ‏

Wa Layālin `Ashrin

And [by] ten nights

٣

وَّالشَّفۡعِ وَالۡوَتۡرِۙ‏

Wa Ash-Shaf`i Wa Al-Watri

And [by] the even [number] and the odd

٤

وَالَّيۡلِ اِذَا يَسۡرِۚ‏

Wa Al-Layli 'Idhā Yasri

And [by] the night when it passes

٥

هَلۡ فِيۡ ذٰلِكَ قَسَمٌ لِّذِيۡ حِجۡرٍؕ‏

Hal Fī Dhālika Qasamun Lidhī Ĥijrin

Is there [not] in [all] that an oath [sufficient] for one of perception

٦

اَلَمۡ تَرَ كَيۡفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِعَادٍۙࣕ‏

Alam Tara Kayfa Fa`ala Rabbuka Bi`ādin

Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with 'Aad

٧

اِرَمَ ذَاتِ الۡعِمَادِۙࣕ‏

Irama Dhāti Al-`Imādi

[With] Iram - who had lofty pillars

٨

الَّتِيۡ لَمۡ يُخۡلَقۡ مِثۡلُهَا فِي الۡبِلَادِۙࣕ‏

Allatī Lam Yukhlaq Mithluhā Fī Al-Bilādi

The likes of whom had never been created in the land

٩

وَثَمُوۡدَ الَّذِيۡنَ جَابُوا الصَّخۡرَ بِالۡوَادِۙࣕ‏

Wa Thamūda Al-Ladhīna Jābū Aş-Şakhra Bil-Wādi

And [with] Thamud, who carved out the rocks in the valley

١٠

وَفِرۡعَوۡنَ ذِي الۡاَوۡتَادِۙࣕ‏

Wa Fir`awna Dhī Al-'Awtādi

And [with] Pharaoh, owner of the stakes

١١

الَّذِيۡنَ طَغَوۡا فِي الۡبِلَادِۙࣕ‏

Al-Ladhīna Ţaghaw Fī Al-Bilādi

[All of] whom oppressed within the lands

١٢

فَاَكۡثَرُوۡا فِيۡهَا الۡفَسَادَۙࣕ‏

Fa'aktharū Fīhā Al-Fasāda

And increased therein the corruption

١٣

فَصَبَّ عَلَيۡهِمۡ رَبُّكَ سَوۡطَ عَذَابٍۙۚ‏

Faşabba `Alayhim Rabbuka Sawţa `Adhābin

So your Lord poured upon them a scourge of punishment

١٤

اِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَبِالۡمِرۡصَادِؕ‏

Inna Rabbaka Labiālmirşādi

Indeed, your Lord is in observation

١٥

فَاَمَّا الۡاِنۡسَانُ اِذَا مَا ابۡتَلٰىهُ رَبُّهٗ فَاَكۡرَمَهٗ وَنَعَّمَهٗ ࣢ۙ فَيَقُوۡلُ رَبِّيۡ٘ اَكۡرَمَنِؕ‏

Fa'ammā Al-'Insānu 'Idhā Mā Abtalāhu Rabbuhu Fa'akramahu Wa Na``amahu Fayaqūlu Rabbī 'Akramani

And as for man, when his Lord tries him and [thus] is generous to him and favors him, he says, "My Lord has honored me

١٦

وَاَمَّا٘ اِذَا مَا ابۡتَلٰىهُ فَقَدَرَ عَلَيۡهِ رِزۡقَهٗ ࣢ۙ فَيَقُوۡلُ رَبِّيۡ٘ اَهَانَنِۚ‏

Wa 'Ammā 'Idhā Mā Abtalāhu Faqadara `Alayhi Rizqahu Fayaqūlu Rabbī 'Ahānani

But when He tries him and restricts his provision, he says, "My Lord has humiliated me

١٧

كَلَّا بَلۡ لَّا تُكۡرِمُوۡنَ الۡيَتِيۡمَۙ‏

Kallā Bal Lā Tukrimūna Al-Yatīma

No! But you do not honor the orphan

١٨

وَلَا تَحٰٓضُّوۡنَ عَلٰي طَعَامِ الۡمِسۡكِيۡنِۙ‏

Wa Lā Taĥāđđūna `Alá Ţa`āmi Al-Miskīni

And you do not encourage one another to feed the poor

١٩

وَتَاۡكُلُوۡنَ التُّرَاثَ اَكۡلًا لَّمًّاۙ‏

Wa Ta'kulūna At-Turātha 'Aklāan Lammāan

And you consume inheritance, devouring [it] altogether

٢٠

وَّتُحِبُّوۡنَ الۡمَالَ حُبًّا جَمًّاؕ‏

Wa Tuĥibbūna Al-Māla Ĥubbāan Jammāan

And you love wealth with immense love

٢١

كَلَّا٘ اِذَا دُكَّتِ الۡاَرۡضُ دَكًّا دَكًّاۙ‏

Kallā 'Idhā Dukkati Al-'Arđu Dakkāan Dakkāan

No! When the earth has been leveled - pounded and crushed

٢٢

وَّجَآءَ رَبُّكَ وَالۡمَلَكُ صَفًّا صَفًّاۚ‏

Wa Jā'a Rabbuka Wa Al-Malaku Şaffāan Şaffāan

And your Lord has come and the angels, rank upon rank

٢٣

وَجِايۡٓءَ يَوۡمَئِذٍۭ بِجَهَنَّمَ ࣢ۙ يَوۡمَئِذٍ يَّتَذَكَّرُ الۡاِنۡسَانُ وَاَنّٰي لَهُ الذِّكۡرٰيؕ‏

Wa Jī'a Yawma'idhin Bijahannama Yawma'idhin Yatadhakkaru Al-'Insānu Wa 'Anná Lahu Adh-Dhikrá

And brought [within view], that Day, is Hell - that Day, man will remember, but what good to him will be the remembrance

٢٤

يَقُوۡلُ يٰلَيۡتَنِيۡ قَدَّمۡتُ لِحَيَاتِيۡۚ‏

Yaqūlu Yā Laytanī Qaddamtu Liĥayātī

He will say, "Oh, I wish I had sent ahead [some good] for my life

٢٥

فَيَوۡمَئِذٍ لَّا يُعَذِّبُ عَذَابَهٗ٘ اَحَدٌۙ‏

Fayawma'idhin Lā Yu`adhibu `Adhābahu 'Aĥadun

So on that Day, none will punish [as severely] as His punishment

٢٦

وَّلَا يُوۡثِقُ وَثَاقَهٗ٘ اَحَدٌؕ‏

Wa Lā Yūthiqu Wathāqahu 'Aĥadun

And none will bind [as severely] as His binding [of the evildoers]

٢٧

يٰ٘اَيَّتُهَا النَّفۡسُ الۡمُطۡمَئِنَّةُۙࣗ‏

Yā 'Ayyatuhā An-Nafsu Al-Muţma'innahu

[To the righteous it will be said], "O reassured soul

٢٨

ارۡجِعِيۡ٘ اِلٰي رَبِّكِ رَاضِيَةً مَّرۡضِيَّةًۚ‏

Arji`ī 'Ilá Rabbiki Rāđiyatan Marđīyahan

Return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing [to Him]

٢٩

فَادۡخُلِيۡ فِيۡ عِبٰدِيۡۙ‏

Fādkhulī Fī `Ibādī

And enter among My [righteous] servants

٣٠

وَادۡخُلِيۡ جَنَّتِيۡࣖ‏

Wa Adkhulī Jannatī

And enter My Paradise

صَدَقَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ

Ṣadaqa Llāhu l-ʿaẓīm

Allah, the Magnificent, has spoken the truth.
