Abasa Wa Tawallá
The Prophet frowned and turned away
An Jā'ahu Al-'A`má
Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]
Wa Mā Yudrīka La`allahu Yazzakká
But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified
Aw Yadhakkaru Fatanfa`ahu Adh-Dhikrá
Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him
Ammā Mani Astaghná
As for he who thinks himself without need
Fa'anta Lahu Taşaddá
To him you give attention
Wa Mā `Alayka 'Allā Yazzakká
And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified
Wa 'Ammā Man Jā'aka Yas`á
But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge]
Wa Huwa Yakhshá
While he fears [Allah]
Fa'anta `Anhu Talahhá
From him you are distracted
Kallā 'Innahā Tadhkirahun
No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder
Faman Shā'a Dhakarahu
So whoever wills may remember it
Fī Şuĥufin Mukarramahin
[It is recorded] in honored sheets
Marfū`atin Muţahharahin
Exalted and purified
Bi'aydī Safarahin
[Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels
Kirāmin Bararahin
Noble and dutiful
Qutila Al-'Insānu Mā 'Akfarahu
Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he
Min 'Ayyi Shay'in Khalaqahu
From what substance did He create him
Min Nuţfatin Khalaqahu Faqaddarahu
From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him
Thumma As-Sabīla Yassarahu
Then He eased the way for him
Thumma 'Amātahu Fa'aqbarahu
Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him
Thumma 'Idhā Shā'a 'Ansharahu
Then when He wills, He will resurrect him
Kallā Lammā Yaqđi Mā 'Amarahu
No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him
Falyanžuri Al-'Insānu 'Ilá Ţa`āmihi
Then let mankind look at his food
Annā Şababnā Al-Mā'a Şabbāan
How We poured down water in torrents
Thumma Shaqaqnā Al-'Arđa Shaqqāan
Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts]
Fa'anbatnā Fīhā Ĥabbāan
And caused to grow within it grain
Wa `Inabāan Wa Qađbāan
And grapes and herbage
Wa Zaytūnāan Wa Nakhlāan
And olive and palm trees
Wa Ĥadā'iqa Ghulbāan
And gardens of dense shrubbery
Wa Fākihatan Wa 'Abbāan
And fruit and grass
Matā`āan Lakum Wa Li'an`āmikum
[As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock
Fa'idhā Jā'ati Aş-Şākhkhahu
But when there comes the Deafening Blast
Yawma Yafirru Al-Mar'u Min 'Akhīhi
On the Day a man will flee from his brother
Wa 'Ummihi Wa 'Abīhi
And his mother and his father
Wa Şāĥibatihi Wa Banīhi
And his wife and his children
Likulli Amri'in Minhum Yawma'idhin Sha'nun Yughnīhi
For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him
Wujūhun Yawma'idhin Musfirahun
[Some] faces, that Day, will be bright
Đāĥikatun Mustabshirahun
Laughing, rejoicing at good news
Wa Wujūhun Yawma'idhin `Alayhā Ghabarahun
And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust
Tarhaquhā Qatarahun
Blackness will cover them
Ūlā'ika Humu Al-Kafaratu Al-Fajarahu
Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones
Ṣadaqa Llāhu l-ʿaẓīm
Allah, the Magnificent, has spoken the truth.
